Alphabet Zoop is a educational program based around a weekly letter and animal. Each session consists of a picture story book, a song, a craft activity and a visual or tactile animal experience. The primary aim of this program is to provide a rich, stimulating environment where a child and their caregiver can learn together through music, movement and kinaesthetic activities and develop a strong connectedness with nature.
Alphabet Zoop is available to Zoo members only. If you would like to book a place for our next available program, please visit here

Welcome Jill, Ebony and Jess!

Jill
We have been very fortunate this term to welcome our newest volunteers, Jill and Ebony, to the Alphabet Zoop program. A big welcome also to Jess, an Alphabet Zoop Leader in training!
Jill has been involved in the Baby Bounce (0-2 year olds) and Storytime (2-5 year olds) sessions that run at the State Library of Victoria on a Wednesday morning. Kat, Mel and I (all teachers at the Zoo) were lucky enough to be able to attend one session of Baby Bounce and Storytime in January this year and see Jill and Emma (Family Programs Officer, State Library) in action.

Jill brings with her, a wealth of experience and love of the Arts, in particular using music to help engage young children and create magical experiences for them. She is our resident singer and ukulele enthusiast! Jill was complemented by one of our mums who said to her "your voice is beautiful, I could listen to it all day". Well done Jill, I completely agree!

Ebony
Alphabet Zoop is also pleased to welcome Ebony, who has just recently completed her University degree in Zoology and has taken this year off to work out what she really wants to do now. She has kindly given her time on a Wednesday to help with the program and I have already thoroughly enjoyed having her as part of the team.

Jess is currently in training to become a leader of the Alphabet Zoop program. She is a qualified teacher who is experienced in Environmental Education for children of all ages. I know we will all benefit from having Jess on board.

I hope that all our participants get the chance to meet Jill, Ebony and Jess sometime soon! x
Jess
